As I headed south for the winter of 2009 I stayed at a couple of State Parks in Florida: Falling Waters in the panhandle and O’Leno in Central Florida. Both were the usual state park with good clean facilities and hook ups for utilities. Still learning the ropes I ended up paying more than if I would have stayed at the National Forests that were nearby. Here are some scenes from these areas:
After leaving Central Florida I worked my way down to the Miami area and the Everglades and Big Cypress National parks.
I totally loved the Everglades. Great campgrounds and scenery with a ton of things to do including biking, kayaking, organized trail walks and Ranger presentations.
I stayed at the Long Pine Key and Flamingo campgrounds in Everglades National Park and also at Midway and Monument Lake in Big Cypress.
There are so many photos that I have created a seperate Everglades Photo Page.
