Virginia – 2010

I made it to Virginia in May of 2010 coming across from Maryland and luckily found a great campground in a National Park just a bit south of Washington DC.  I had never heard of “Prince William Forest National Park” but it was in a perfect location wth easy access to the DC Blue Line Metro station and the National Museum of the Marine Corps.  I spent about 10 days here and got to visit the Capitol for the first time.

After leaving the DC area I headed west into the mountains and stayed in Shenandoah National Park where I got to hike part of the Appalachan Trail, saw my first bear and enjoyed some spectacular vistas of the Shenandoah Valley.Shenandoah Scenery
